Parent's Guide

Fall Higher Belt Grading and Special Class

  • Instructor: Sensei Sharp

  • Date: Wednesday, December 10th

  • Location: Mount Pleasant Elementary

  • Eligibility: Open to green belt and higher

  • Schedule:

    • Grading Prep Class: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

    • Grading: 7:30 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Pricing:

    • Grading Prep Class with Sensei Sharp: $20

    • Grading Fees (Belt Level):

      • Below Yellow Belt: $35

      • Yellow Belt to Purple Belt: $45

      • Brown Belt and Up: $55

Fall Lower Belt Grading and In-house Tournament

  • Date: Saturday, December 13th

  • Location: Vancouver Mind-Body Centre (VMBC)

  • Schedule:

    • Grading Prep Class: 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM

    • Grading: 11:50 AM – 12:15 PM

    • Tournament Prep Class: 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM

    • Tournament: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM

  • Pricing:

    • Grading: Below Yellow $35, Yellow to Purple $45,
      Brown and Up $55

    • Tournament: $20 per event ($20 for kata + $20 for Kumite = $40 total if participating in both)

  • Note for Tournament-Only Participants: Students who only want to compete in the tournament should arrive at 12:30 PM.

  • Fee paid
  • Grading package with top ½ of first page filled out
  • Passport with passport photo (6th and higher)
  • Student knows their grading requirements
  • Received permission and confirmation from Sensei Ryan

Annual Glow in the Dark Bowling

  • Description: Friends and families are welcome to join our annual bowling event. If enough of you participate, we can rent the whole upper floor!

Learn Karate With Your Kids!

Join our parent-child classes for a fun, safe, and beginner-friendly way to learn karate together!

  • 75 minute karate class geared for parents and children who want to have fun practicing a self-defense martial art
  • Low to moderate exercise, no experience required
  • Safe: taught by a qualified instructor…over a decade of experience, zero injuries
  • Fun: practicing defensive and offensive martial arts techniques with your child
  • When: three consecutive Saturdays 3:45-5
  • Cost: $120, $100 if in the program for all three classes
  • Requirements: light gym clothes, water bottle
  • Location: VMBC (6682 Main Street)
  • Goal: Parents and children having fun learning JKA karate together
  • Need to know student age, martial arts experience, behavioural or health challenges, how you heard about us
